The New Narrative is a project launched in 2013 and re-launched in 2016. It is designed to give a voice to the artistic, cultural, scientific and intellectual communities in order to articulate what Europe stands for today and tomorrow and to contribute to bringing Europe closer to its citizens and reviving a "European" spirit via the arts and sciences. The project aims at identifying a new, encompassing narrative that takes into account the evolving reality of the European continent, as well as highlighting that the EU is not solely about the economy and growth, but also about cultural unity and common values in a globalised world. Europe's core values of human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, and respect for human rights are an essential part of the European project. Variety of events and on-line discussions has lead by now to the publication of the declaration “The Mind and Body of Europe”. The engagement of cultural, scientific, and artistic sectors in the ongoing discussion on the many narratives on Europe is to be continued with specific actions taking place in the EU Member States. The send phase of the project encourages young people to contribute to the future of Europe with their ideas.

This MOOC by Vanderbilt University is intended for both newcomers who are curious about video games and experienced gamers who want to reflect on their passion. The course explores what happens to stories, paintings, and films when they become the basis of massively multiplayer online games. The Lord of the Rings trilogy — the novels, films, and video game — are the central example of how “remediation” transforms familiar stories as they move across media. The course is designed as a university-level English literature class — a multi-genre, multimedia tour of how literature, film, and games engage in the basic human activity of storytelling.

The Open Method of Coordination is the main working method of cooperation among Member States in the field of culture that aims to spread best practice and achieve convergence towards EU goals in specific policy areas. The interested countries voluntarily nominate experts from ministries of culture and national cultural institutions to meet and exchange good practice, as well as produce policy manuals or toolkits which then are widely shared throughout Europe. There have been 14 culture OMC groups since 2008, working on important issues such as: cultural and creative industries; intercultural dialogue; access to culture; culture and education; mobility of artists and cultural professionals and works of art. The EC plans to organize the work of new four OMC groups in 2017-2018 on sustainable cultural tourism; contribution of culture to social inclusion; skills, training and knowledge transfer; and improving circulation of European films. Several examples of policy manuals produced via OMC can be found in sub-section “Research and study documents”.

The Pluggable Social Platform for Heritage Awareness and Participation – PLUGGY – is an EU-funded project launched in December 2016. The project addresses the need of society to be actively involved in cultural heritage activities, not only as an observer, but also as a creator and a major influencing factor. A heritage is one of the preconditions for genuine sustainability. Currently, there are not adequate ICT tools to support citizens in their everyday activities in shaping cultural heritage and be shaped by it. PLUGGY aims to bridge existing gap by providing the necessary tools to allow users to share their local knowledge and everyday experience with others, together with the contribution of cultural institutions, building extensive networks around a common area interest, connecting the past, the present and the future.
http://www.pluggy-project.eu/Policy handbook on artists' residencies: (European agenda for culture: work plan for culture 2011-2014. European Commission, Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture 2016)
Artists’ residencies have become intrinsic to many artistic careers. They play an important role in facilitating and catalysing artists’ ability to move across the world. They have also developed into important elements in the (local) contemporary art scene connecting the local with the global art world. The artists participating in residency programmes build bridges between countries and cultures contributing to cultural diversity. Artists’ residencies create opportunities for giving insights into the cultural background of each participating artist’s own background.
