Culture for Cities: Case Studies of Successful Practices

The catalogue ‘Culture for Cities and Regions’ examines 71 case studies of cultural activities all over Europe.

These examples vary by scale from large capital cities to projects in local communities. The catalogue explores different dimensions of activism. For instance, some of the cities like Dublin, Lisbon or Aarhus are using their cultural heritage as a resource for social inclusion practices or even economic growth.

Other cases, such as Amsterdam, Brno and many more, are good examples of active work of creative industries. For these cities, the implementation of culture initiatives becomes the driver for urban regeneration and economic vitality.

The project ‘Culture for Cities and Regions’ is fully funded by the Creative Europe programme. This catalogue will be interesting for cultural activists and authorities as an example of making cities more successful and attractive by investing in culture.
