Germany is hosting “Armenian Culture Days”. The “Armenian Culture Days” are being held in Germany from 19 August till 6 November, with the assistance of Armenian Embassy, Armenpress news agency reports. Scientists, representatives of the Armenian community and cultural figures will take part in the events scheduled during the Culture Days. Department of State: Armenian media less critical of minority religious groups than in previous years. The constitution guarantees freedom of religion and stipulates the separation of religious organizations and the state, but also recognizes the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) as the national church and preserver of national identity, says the International Religious Report for 2015 published by Department of State, News.am writes. According to the paper, minority religious groups faced obstacles in obtaining building permits for places of worship; discrimination in education, the military, law enforcement, and public sector employment; government preferences for the AAC; and negative commentary from government officials. Representatives of minority religious groups associated with ethnic minorities, unlike those associated with ethnic Armenians, reported better relations with the government. The government sponsored an increased presence for the AAC in public life and required courses on the history of the AAC and on Christianity in public schools. News.am
“New novels about Azerbaijan” book is published in France. A book entitled "Nouvelles Nouvelles D’Azerbaidjan" (New novels about Azerbaijan) was published in France, Azernews.az reports with a reference to Trend Life. The book was published at the initiative of the France-Azerbaijan friendship group and supported, among others, by the Culture and Tourism Ministry. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on the 200th anniversary of the establishment of German settlements in the South Caucasus region, APA reports. In order for a decent celebration of the 200th anniversary of the establishment of German settlements in the South Caucasus region, the head of state instructed respective state bodies to jointly develop and implement special a program dedicated to the actions on the 200th anniversary of the establishment of German settlement in the South Caucasus. New competition programs are taking start in Belarus during its Year of Culture. Belarussian Ministry of Culture informed on a numerous competition programs amid the year of culture in Belarus. For example, Man of the Year of Culture contest will name the best specialists in the cultural sector; City of Culture in the Year of Culture competition will pick up Belarus' best communities that made the biggest contribution to the development of culture and tourism. Front line village in Georgia to host International Animation Film Festival. Georgia’s village Nikozi, located only 500 meters from the Russian occupied South Ossetia region, will host its sixth annual International Animation Festival beginning September 1, Georgia Today reports. Dozens of local and international artists from France, Italy, Canada, Poland and Lithuania will showcase their work at the Nikozi Monastery Palace, which was destroyed in the five-day 2008 August War against Russia. Orhei city park has become a first music park in Moldova. Central park of Moldovan town Orhei was transformed into a musical oasis amid the Independence Day of Moldova, Sputnik Moldova reports. To achieve this goal, sidewalks were renovated, additional lights and benches were installed, as well as a technical equipment for the musical accompaniment. “Ivanos” park will become a leisure center for the youngest residents of the city due to modern playgrounds. Establishment of Ukrainian Culture Fund endorsed by country’s reform body.
