EVS: opportunity for youth from all over the world

Probably, you had already heard about European Voluntary Service which helps young people to explore new countries and work in areas of youth work, cultural activities, social care or environmental protection.

It is great opportunity to gain the experience of living and working in another country, build intercultural links, networking and contribute to society. People who interested in culture projects and creative industries will also find a lot of opportunities and offers.

EVS is existing for more than twenty years and around 100,000 young people have taken part in international volunteering through the service. If you are between 17 and 30 years old, you can spend from 2 weeks to 12 months working in another country. The EVS will provide you accommodation, food, insurance and pocket money.

In this book you will find the stories of people who took part in projects in the scope of EVS.

Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, mentioned, “The experience they gain in meeting and working with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds opens their eyes to other ways of life which can have a lifelong impact on them. Volunteering can also improve people’s job prospects; employers value skills such as the ability to work in a team, to communicate e actively in a multicultural environment and to be able to speak foreign languages.”
